Pizza Fries

These are the viral TikTok pizza fries: crispy fries loaded with tasty pizza sauce, molten mozzarella, and pepperoni. This four ingredient dish is easy to make, and totally worthy of being a viral sensation!

What are pizza fries?

These pizza fries are made by cooking the fries and toppings separately.

To make the topping you must layer pizza sauce, mozzarella, and pepperoni onto a baking tray. Next, bake everything until the cheese is bubbling. By adding the pizza sauce first, you can simply the slide the melted cheese off the tray and onto the cooked fries – yum!

Ingredients

To make these fries you will only need four simple ingredients:

  • Pizza sauce
  • Shredded mozzarella
  • Vegan pepperoni (or favourite toppings of your choice)
  • Frozen oven fries

How to make pizza fries

Firstly, preheat the oven to 220℃/200℃ (430℉/390℉). Tip the fries onto a large baking tray and place into the oven.

Secondly, prepare the pizza topping. Spray a medium non-stick baking tray with a little oil. Pour the tomato sauce onto baking tray and spread evenly.

(*TIP* if you want to be able to easily pour the pizza topping over the fries, as is shown in the TikTok trend, then use the full amount of sauce. If, however, you a worried about the fries becoming soggy then use half to three quarters of the sauce. You will need to use a spatula to slide the cheesy topping over the fries, but they will not become soggy quickly.)

Top the tomato sauce evenly with the grated mozzarella and arrange your pepperoni slices in a single layer on top.

10 minutes before the fries have finished cooking, place the tomato sauce, cheese, and pepperoni into the oven. By the time the fries are cooked, the cheese should be bubbling and the pepperoni nicely cooked.

Tip your fries into a serving bowl and season with salt before pouring the cheesy tomato sauce over the fries.

How to make pizza fries better

I chose to add vegan pepperoni to my pizza fries, however there are plenty of ways to jazz them up:

  • Extra toppings – add your favourite pizza toppings over the cheese, such as olives, mushrooms or other meats.
  • Hot honey – for a sweet and spicy twist, drizzle hot honey over the pizza fries.
  • Garlic butter – for a garlicky twist, toss your fries in garlic butter before topping with the cheesy tomato sauce.

Ingredients
  

  • vegetable oil ideally in a spray bottle
  • cups pizza sauce use just ¾-1 cup of sauce if you are worried about having soggy fries – this will make it harder to slide the sauce over the fries
  • 250g/9oz shredded mozzarella
  • 100g/3½oz vegan pepperoni you can use any of your favourite pizza toppings, or normal pepperoni if you're not vegetarian!
  • 450g/16oz frozen oven fries

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 220℃/200℃ (430℉/390℉) and cook your fries according to packet instructions.
  2. Spray a medium baking tray with vegetable oil.
  3. Pour over the pizza sauce and spread evenly with a spoon or spatula.
  4. Cover the sauce evenly with the shredded mozzarella.
  5. 10 minutes before the fries are ready, place the place the cheese, tomato, and pepperoni in the oven until the cheese is bubbling.
  6. Salt the fries and tip into a serving bowl.
  7. Pour the cheesy pepperoni over the fries, enjoy straight away.
