Cheeseburger Fries

These cheeseburger fries are loaded with an American cheese sauce, fried vegan mince, and homemade burger sauce. They are the perfect sharing food for game day parties with friends. I used vegan mince to make these vegetarian, but feel free to use your favourite ingredients.

These fries are easy to make and can be ready in just 40 minutes!

How to make cheeseburger fries

There are 4 main elements to these fries: the fries, the cheese sauce, the mince, and the homemade burger sauce.

Fries

To make things easier for yourself, I recommend using frozen French fries. These take just 20 minutes to cook in the oven. You could also cook them in the air fryer in even less time!

If you’d like to make fries from scratch then feel free to do so!

Cheese sauce

I made a deliciously indulgent Cheddar and American cheese sauce to load the fries with. To make this, simply make a roux using butter, flour, and milk. Lower the heat and stir through the grated cheeses until melted.

Alternatively, you can top the fries with a few slices of American cheese. Pop the fries back in the oven until the cheese has melted.

Burger mince

The burger part of these fries is simply fried mince. I used vegan mince, but you can use whichever mince you prefer.

I simply seasoned my mince with salt and pepper. If you want to add some extra flavour, you can fry up some onion and garlic with the mince.

Burger sauce

I made a simple homemade burger sauce using mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, diced pickles, and garlic powder. If you would like to make a Big Mac-inspired burger sauce then check out the recipe from my Big Mac tacos.

Extra toppings

I finished off my fries with sliced gherkins and a drizzle of ketchup. Here are some more toppings you could add:

  • Fried vegan bacon
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Grilled onions
  • Sliced chives

American cheese sauce
  • tbsp plain flour

Burger sauce
  • 5 tbsp mayonnaise

  1. Start by making the cheese sauce. In a medium sauce pan melt the butter over a medium heat. Stir through the flour and cook for 30 seconds.
  2. Gradually add in the milk, stirring constantly. Simmer for a couple of minutes until thickened.
