Puff pastry pizza twists: ingredients
To make these puff pastry pizza twists, you will need:
- Ready-rolled puff pastry
- Pizza sauce
- Mozzarella
- Egg yolk
- Vegetarian Parmesan
- Garlic powder
- Mixed dried herbs

How to make puff pastry pizza twists
Firstly, preheat the oven to 210℃/190℃ fan (410℉/375℉). Line two baking trays with baking parchment.
Then, lay out your puff pastry and slice it in half lengthways.
Spread one half evenly with the tomato sauce before sprinkling over the shredded mozzarella. Make sure the toppings are spread right to the edges of the pastry.
Carefully cover the sauce and mozzarella with the other half of the puff pastry.

In a small bowl, whisk the water together with the egg yolk. Brush the pastry all over with the egg mix.
Sprinkle over the garlic powder and mixed dried herbs before topping with the grated Parmesan.

Using a large sharp knife, slice the pastry into 6 even strips – slicing across the width of the pastry. Each slice will be around 1.5 inches/4cm wide.

Twist each pastry strip before arranging on the lined baking tray. Ensure each pastry is at least 2 inches apart. Brush the pastries again with a little more egg wash.

Bake for 18-23 minutes until the pastry is golden and puffed up. Serve with more pizza sauce for dipping.

To a small pan tip in a can of chopped tomatoes or box of passata. Heat gently until the sauce is lightly bubbling.
Season with a pinch each of sugar, dried mixed herbs, garlic powder, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Stir through 1 tbsp of tomato purée and simmer until you have a thickened sauce, stirring often.
